Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has lavished praise on striker Radamel Falcao believing his effort and commitment has helped him become the best No.9 in the world.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in six league matches, allowing Los Colchoneros to share a spot with Barcelona at the top of La Liga table.

And the Colombian's eye-catching performances have captured the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, leading to Simeone to laud the attacker for his efforts.

"Radamel has worked for this moment, everything that is happening is a consequence of what he gives to football," he told AS.

"I hope he can continue along this line because his best virtue is his character and his desire.

"He is definitely the best No.9 in the world."

Falcao has also been excelling for his country, netting both goals against Paraguay in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win on Friday, though, could leave Atleti in January if the 60 million buy-out clause in his contract is activated.
