A new dimension has once again popped up in the Boko Haram saga in the country. Operatives of the military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State have raised the alarm over text messages being sent by Boko Haram to select individuals, especially contractors, politicians and government officials.The text messages, JTF claimed, are used by the sect to demand large sums of money to be used for certain purposes like building of mosques.
The task force, in a statement signed by Lieutenant-Colonel Sagir Musa, copies of which were made available to journalists, on Friday, in Maiduguri, urged members of the public to be on the alert as regards the development.
It warned that whoever succumbed to the ploy and channelled money or resources to the sect would be arrested and treated as its accomplice and financier.
