A release by the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) in Borno State, has revealed that the dreaded Boko Haram sect might be planning fresh attacks on the state during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The release, issued by spokesperson for the JTF, Colonel Sagir Musa, states that “information available to the JTF indicates that the Boko Haram terrorists are planning massive attacks on military and civilian targets in Borno State before, during and after the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir period… Subsequently, the terrorist group has invited foreign mercenaries to assist them in launching the attacks.”
Meanwhile in another Boko Haram-infested State, Yobe State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has approved the imposition of restriction of movement in Potiskum, beginning from yesterday, between 4.00 p.m and 7.00 a.m daily. The decision was taken following a meeting the governor had with heads of law enforcement agencies in the state.
According to a statement from the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mallam Abdullahi Bego, the measure was designed to ensure the protection of life and property and the maintenance of law and order in the state.
