Actress Nkiru Sylvanus loses her appointment as special assistant to Imo State Gov

It was gotten from a very reliable sources that actress Nkiru Sylvanus has lost her appointment as 'The Special Assistant To Governor Rochas Okorocha On Lagos Matters'. Yes, there's a position like that!
The Abia state born actress had been battling several people since her appointment last year, who felt she didn't deserve the position as a non-Imo state indigene and also because they felt the appointment was meaningless and unnecessary as they didn't understand her job specification.

They also felt she got the appointment because of her 'friendship' with the governor and not because she knew anything about running a public office. These people worked tirelessly to get her out of government house, and if what I'm hearing is correct, they've succeeded.

Blackberry Users With Sensitive Skin At Risk Of Skin Allergies

Blackberrys Contain Nickel
If you use a Blackberry, this finding should interest you. The Blackberry and iPhone devices are the two major players in the smartphone market, with millions of users but when it comes to your health, the iPhone emerges as the clear winner over a BlackBerry.
But a scientific study of common allergens – cobalt and nickels found on many smartphones, wasn’t found present in iphones but a third of BlackBerrys tested, contained nickel – which can bring those with sensitive skin out in a rash.
Dr Tania Mucci, who presented the study at the annual meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, said: ‘Both metals can cause an allergic reaction including dry, itchy patches along the cheekbones, jawline and ears.’
Nickel is a silvery-white metal used in alloys because of its resistance to corrosion.
It is found in objects including door handles, scissors, jewellery – and even occurs naturally in some foods, such as nuts and kidney beans.
‘Patients with nickel and cobalt allergies should consider using iPhones to reduce the chance of having an allergic reaction,’ said allergist Dr Luz Fonacier.
‘BlackBerry users with known allergies should avoid prolonged conversations, text messaging and handling their phones if they begin noticing symptoms.’
Women have a higher risk of developing mobile phone dermatitis as they are more likely to have become sensitive to the metal following a reaction to nickel-coated jewellery.
A spokesman said: ‘In mobile phone dermatitis, the rash would typically occur on the cheek or ear.’
A Blackberry spokesperson however said: ‘Allergic reactions to nickel occur if it is found on the outside of a phone.
‘We test our phones against EU test protocol EN 1811 and have found no nickel exposure on the exterior surface of newly purchased BlackBerry smartphones.’

Egyptian Police Arrest Two Nurses And A Doctor That Sold 300 Babies At N90,000 Each

Egyptian police say they have broken up a child trafficking ring that sold almost 300 babies for $US570 (N90,000) each or less.
A police official said on Sunday officers had arrested five suspects, including two nurses and a doctor working at the Cairo hospital where the babies were sold for almost three years.
Police are searching for the hospital manager who escaped arrest.
The official said the network also performed caesarian operations on women who had left it too late for an abortion of an unwanted child in exchange for allowing the doctors to sell the babies, usually to couples who could not have their own children.
Adoption is illegal in Egypt, which adheres to Islamic law in some family matters.
Some couples have sought to bypass the ban by buying children.
In 2009, an American couple received a two year jail sentence after a court convicted them of buying a child from an orphanage.
Abortion is legal where it is deemed necessary for the health of the mother

Natural Health Tips For Type 2 Diabetes Prevention

Diabetes is a leading cause of death in Nigeria. Diabetes leads to heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, or amputation, and it affects almost 6 million Nigerians. With over 90% of that number being type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes usually begins as insulin resistance, a condition in which cells do not use insulin properly. As the need for insulin rises, the pancreas gradually loses its ability to produce it. Type 2 diabetes is associated with:
  • Older age
  • Obesity
  • Family history of diabetes
  • History of gestational diabetes
  • Hmpaired glucose metabolism
  • Physical inactivity
  • Race/ethnicity (African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, American Indians, some Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes and its complications)
Type 2 Diabetes Prevention
The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) says making small changes, like becoming more active and losing a small amount of weight if you’re overweight, can go a long way toward helping prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. Losing even 4 to 6kg – if you weigh 90kg – can make a big difference.
If you have diabetes, you can help prevent complications by making changes to reach your blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol goals.
Physicians offer some natural tips that may help reduce your risk for developing type 2 diabetes, and may be helpful if you already have it.
“Making a few relatively simple dietary and lifestyle changes, and adding additional screening to your annual physical, can go a long way in diabetes prevention,” says a chiropractic physician. “Prevention steps are especially important if you have a family history of diabetes.”
5 Natural Health Tips for Type 2 Diabetes Prevention
1. Breakfast protein. Consume adequate protein for breakfast to help stabilize your blood sugar for the rest of the day.
2. Water. Start replacing sodas, commercial sports drinks, and other sugary drinks with water. “This is one of the biggest diabetes prevention tips for children and young people,” says one physician. “Diabetes is striking increasingly younger age groups, and parents would do well to make water the first option when their kids are thirsty.”
3. Glycemic index. Educate yourself about the glycemic index and glycemic load and change dietary habits to choose foods lower on the glycemic index. Different foods can have a different impact on blood sugar elevation. Choosing foods that are lower on the glycemic index — for example, choosing whole grains over processed white flour products — can help stabilize your blood sugar levels.
4. Walk. Instead of taking the elevator, walk your way up to 10,000 steps per day. Physical activity maintains insulin sensitivity.
5. Bio-impedance test. Have a bio-impedance test to give you your baseline body composition. A bio-impedance test can be performed by chiropractic physicians and will give you the most accurate measure of your body composition. A major risk factor in type 2 diabetes is obesity, so lowering body fat and gaining lean muscle mass is recommended.
