Jealous Husband Sets Wife Ablaze After Dumping Him

A jilted husband, Adesanmoye Kehinde, expressed his frustration after he was dumped by his wife, Jane Odegba, 29, by setting her ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

He was said to have poured some petrol on her and lit a match that set her ablaze.

Although Jane was rescued, she suffered severe burns and is now lying critically ill at a hospital.

The victim claimed that Kehinde enjoyed every benefit from her as his wife and yet he did not pay a dime to her family as dowry after repeated promises to do so.

She therefore decided to quit the four-year relationship for another man who was ready to marry her. But Kehinde insisted that she must not leave her and threatened to deal with her if she left. To prove to her that he meant the threat, he set her ablaze at the popular Ikotun round about and fled.

According to the victim, he threatened to deal with her, but she did not know he planned to set her ablaze. On the day of the incident she was going to see a friend and unknown to her Kehinde was trailing her.

On getting to the Ikotun roundabout, he poured some petrol on her, lit a match and set her ablaze. She was rushed to a hospital where she has been on admission.

Kehinde who was later arrested and is now in prison custody, hails from Ondo State Southwest Nigeria while his estranged wife is from Edo State, Southsouth Nigeria. It was gathered that the estranged lovers had been living together as husband and wife at 2 Olaoluwa Street, Abaranje, Ikotun.

The suspect was charged to Ejgbo Magistrate's Court, Lagos on a two-count charge under section 243 and 244 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atunmonye objected to his bail.

He told the court that he was callous to have set the woman ablaze. He added that if he was allowed to go, it will send wrong signal to the society and the victim was still lying critically ill at a hospital.

SAD!!! Bride Dies In An Accident On Her Way To Church For Wedding

The day was bright, it was bright and fair. A happy day, a day of joy for Miss Bisioye Adegbite who was heading for the altar to say ‘I DO’ to her dream man.

After several months of preparations with family members and friends, little did Miss Adegbite know that she would never take the marital vows.

According to Reports, efforts of the supposed bride were ended in a ghastly motor accident shortly after she left home in a convoy of exotic cars for her church wedding somewhere in Ikeja, Lagos. It was gathered that the fatal accident that claimed the life of the bride happened on one of the major roads in Ikeja, in front of Tunde Motors.

“We were all shocked and terrified when we noticed a white Murano SUV decorated with an ‘About To Wed’ somersaulting that fateful Saturday morning. We didn’t know what actually caused the accident. But those who immediately rushed to the scene to rescue the survivors were shocked to find the bride dead. She died immediately the accident happened on the spot. In fact, we were told that among the occupants of the car, she was the only one who died. They had to remove her wedding gown in order to be able to retrieve her body from the mangled car that was a complete wreck” , a close family member said.

According to the source, it was like a dream to the groom who was waiting anxiously for her arrival in order for them to begin the solemnization of their marriage in the church under the watchful eyes their family members, friends and well wishers only to be told that the love of his life had been hijacked by the icy hands of death.

The man thought he was dreaming until he rushed to the hospital where he was shown the battered corpse of his darling bride by the doctor and broke down in tears uncontrollably.

The late Adegbite, 25 until her death was a final year student of Industrial Relation at the University of Cotonou, Benin Republic. She has since being interred. Sunday Express

Former IG of Police, Sunday Ehindero Remanded in Kuje Prisons for Embezzling N16million & Misappropriating over N500million

Talk about having a taste of one’s own medicine. After sending so many people to jail, its time to go join them. How sad.
The Former Inspector General of Police, Sunday Ehindero has been remanded in Kuje prisons for charges of embezzling and misappropriating funds while at the helm of affairs. Ehindero is on trial for allegedly embezzling N16 million meant for the police force. He and a former Commissioner of Police in charge of Budget, John Obaniyi, were, on Friday, docked before an Abuja High Court.
There have been several versions of the actual amount misappropriated by the duo during their tenure. Daily Times reports that the money was the interest that accrued to N567 million donated to the police, for the procurement of arms, ammunition and riot control equipment, by the Bayelsa State Government. Tribune claims that they misappropriated about N558 million while The Nation says they misappropriated about N574.4 million Police fund while in office.
Furthermore, they were accused of placing another N200 million from the donation in a fixed deposit account at the defunct Intercontinental Bank Plc where it yielded N6.5 million. They allegedly converted the interests that accrued from the two fixed deposits to their personal use.
They were arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over a six count-charge of criminal conspiracy and misappropriation Police funds while in office.
Both men pleaded not guilty.
The trial judge, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi had granted the former police chief bail in the sum of N10 million and was to also provide a surety in like sum.
But when he failed to meet the bail applications by Friday evening, he was sent to Kuje Prisons to spend at least the next 48 hours, until Monday, with other prisoners.
Ehindero succeeded Tafa Balogun, who was also convicted for corruption, as Inspector General of Police. He served his tenure between 2005 and 2007.
